LOVE CAKE

Love Cake (2nd Edition) is a soulful, character-driven novel set in Houston during the COVID-19 pandemic, the MAGA movement, and the Black Lives Matter protests. It follows Bryan, a Black cisgender man, and Nadia, his transgender partner, as they run Sophia’s Cupcakes—Texas’s first trans-owned bakery and a haven for queer joy and community.

But when political tensions rise, business slows, and past wounds resurface, their once-solid foundation begins to crack. As public pressure and private fears threaten to unravel everything they’ve built, both Bryan and Nadia turn inward. What saves them from losing the bakery—and each other—isn’t just love.
